We are part of what is known as the Alaska Panhandle. Elfin Cove, Alaska is located on the northern part of the famed Inside Passage. This area is especially blessed with abundant wildlife, gamefish and spectacular scenery. Prior to 1935 this area was known as 'The Gunk Hole', which means safe harbor. In June 1935, when a post office was established, the name was changed to Elfin Cove; named after Ernie Swanson's boat the 'Elfin'. There are approximately twenty hearty residents who call this place home and brave the cold and lonely winter months. During the summer the population explodes due to hundreds of vacationers and a handful of commercial fishermen who come here to fish and enjoy the wondrous beauty of the area. You will enjoy watching and photographing orca and humpback whales, black and brown bear, otters, eagles, moose, seals, porpoise and numerous sea birds. If you want to view more photos of the Elfin Cove area please click here and enjoy the 'Flash presentation'. Note: to view it requires the most current Macromedia plug-in. Give us a call
